The lines
Ten and the Seattle years
Gossard and Ament recorded demos with Mike McCready after Wood's death; a San Diego surfer, Eddie Vedder, sang over them by post and flew up in October 1990. Ten (1991) sold thirteen million copies in America. Drummers came and went: Dave Krusen, Matt Chamberlain, Dave Abbruzzese and Jack Irons before Matt Cameron, late of Soundgarden, in 1998.

No Code onwards
From No Code the band turned away from the mainstream, fought Ticketmaster, and kept the same five members for twenty-seven years. Cameron's spell ended in 2025. The band was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2017.
