The line diagram

Each member is a lane on the year axis, in the colour of the line the band was on. A filled station marks a joining, an open one a departure, a square a death. The dotted rail is a reunion. A dotted branch leads to a band that grew out of this one, or in from a band its members came from. The table below lists the same spells.

Stewart and Wood join the three

Ronnie Lane, Kenney Jones and Ian McLagan took in two of the Jeff Beck Group, singer Rod Stewart and guitarist Ronnie Wood, in 1969 and dropped the "Small". Four albums of loose, boozy rock ran beside Stewart's bigger solo career. Lane left in 1973, Tetsu Yamauchi took the bass, and the band ended in 1975 as Wood joined the Rolling Stones.
