Brenston sang and played saxophone in Ike Turner's Kings of Rhythm. When the band recorded at Sam Phillips' Memphis studio in March 1951 the record went out under Brenston's name, with a guitar tone distorted by an amplifier damaged on the way to the session. It topped the rhythm and blues chart, the band broke up over the credit, and Brenston never had another hit. The map opens the Rock trunk here.
