The Crawdaddy Club covers band
Brian Jones's band of Chicago blues and Chuck Berry covers, named after a Muddy Waters song, took the Crawdaddy Club residency in Richmond in 1963 and handed it to the Yardbirds when Andrew Loog Oldham signed them to Decca. The first album, in 1964, had one original on it.

Satisfaction onwards
From "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" in 1965 the Jagger and Richards songs took over. Jones drifted out and was replaced by Mick Taylor in 1969, weeks before he drowned; Ronnie Wood came from the Faces in 1975 and the line-up then held for eighteen years, until Bill Wyman left in 1993. Charlie Watts died in 2021 and the band played on.
Key album: Exile on Main St., 1972
