Paranoid to the final show
Paranoid in 1970 set the template for heavy metal. Ozzy Osbourne was sacked in 1979 and Ronnie James Dio sang Heaven and Hell; a long revolving door followed, with Ian Gillan, Glenn Hughes and Tony Martin at the microphone and Tony Iommi the one constant. The originals reunited in 1997, made 13 in 2013 and ended the touring band in 2017. The last show, in Birmingham on 5 July 2025, was seventeen days before Osbourne died.
Key album: Paranoid, 1970
